Scriptures are from the KJV of the Bible

(Q)  Do you believe the Bible is made up of fables and fairy-tales?  I have been told that our seminaries now teach these things as fact. What’s your opinion?

(A)  First, let’s define the meaning of Fable and Fairy-Tales:

Fable as defined by Merriam-Webster dictionary is as follows: a fictitious narrative or statement: a legendary story of supernatural happenings:  a narration intended to enforce a useful truth; especially   one in which animals speak and act like human beings: a story or statement that is not true.

Fairy-tale as defined by Merriam-Webster dictionary is as follows: a story (as for children) involving fantastic forces and beings (as fairies, wizards, and goblins) —called also fairy story: a story in which improbable events lead to a happy ending: a made-up story usually designed to mislead.

Are we to believe that the God of all creation would mislead us or tell stories, and make statements that are not true? What does God say about this?

In II Timothy 3:15-17, we find out what God Himself say’s about His Word: 15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Do the above scriptures sound like God would use Fables and Fairy-Tales to make a point? I think not!

God does not and cannot ever tell a lie: Titus 1:2: 2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began.

Who does tell lies? Let’s see: John 8:44-45: 44 Ye are of your father the “devil”, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. 45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.

Satan is the great liar. He is the one behind the Fable and Fairy-Tale deception going on in our churches. He wants people to believe the Bible is full of Fables and Fairy-Tales. Why? Because then most of the people will begin to believe that he himself is a Fable, and that he does not really exist. How clever this spirit being is at deceiving people into thinking that he is just a made up story. Then if he can convince people that he himself is a fable, then his desire is that most people will also believe that the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ for salvation are also a fable. So the more people Satan can deceive into thinking the whole Bible is a big Fairy-Tale, then the more he will take with him when he is cast into the lake of fire which was prepared specifically for him (Satan), and all the rest of the fallen angels. But, the lake of fire is also for all people who are still in their sins at the time of their death. The next 5 verses talk about these things:  Revelation 20:10“And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet [are], and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”  Matthew 25:41 -“Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.” Revelation 20:15  – “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” Revelation 21:8  – “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” Revelation 20:14 – “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.”

This being called the Devil, and Satan, has and is deceiving the whole world, Revelation 12:7-9: 7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, 8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

When God first created this being his name was Lucifer, and he was one of the brightest stars of the angelic congregation. He was full of wisdom, knowledge and beauty. We are told something of his former glory in the Book of Ezekiel, chapter 28, where he is referred to as the “King of Tyre”: Ezekiel 28:11-17: 11 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 12 Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. 13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. 14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. 15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. 16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. 17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.

Satan the Devil is a very brilliant deceiver, in fact he is using a lot of “so called ministers” who are really false ministers, teaching false doctrine as we see in the book of II Corinthians:

II Corinthians 11:13-15: 13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

Before I continue, I want to make one thing very clear about this spirit being called Satan. There is no struggle going on between God and Satan. God is in complete and total control of everything, and all things are done according to His perfect will. Satan has to ask God for permission to do certain things as we find in the Book of Job 1:8-12: 8 And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? 9 Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?  10 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. 11 But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face. 12 And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.

We see from the above passages that Satan is not free to act in the affairs of mankind. In verses 10 through 12 above Satan had to ask God to remove the protective “hedge” from around Job. If God does not remove His protection from His people, Satan can have no influence on them or their lives. Consequently, Satan cannot cause affliction nor can he cause a person to commit sin. Satan must submit himself to whatever God chooses to do.

Today in our nominally Christian nation, we’re seeing most of the major denominations of the church producing members so scripturally illiterate that they can’t even recognize the serious and fundamental errors being promoted by both their lay and clerical leadership. Now to be sure, there are still churches and ministries left that are instilling in their members not only the truth but the spiritual fire necessary for them to get out there to make a stand, but I fear these are becoming the exceptions rather than the rule.

Anyone teaching that the Bible is full of Fables and Fairy-Tales is a false teacher. This kind of teaching is heresy!

Of course, heresy isn’t a new thing to the church, but rather one of Satan’s standard old tricks. It was happening back in the Apostle Paul’s time almost 2000 years ago, II Corinthians 11:3-4: But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

In other words, people will more readily accept a false doctrine produced by another human being then the truth from the Holy Spirit as revealed in the Bible. Paul furthermore revealed to Timothy who was in training under him, that this is a situation that would get worse with time, II Timothy 4:2-4: Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Sad to say, but a lot of people like to hear fables, rather than the truth.

So is the Bible made up of Fables, or is it made up of Truth, THE “TRUE WORD” OF GOD?

Due to the fact that the Bible is a collection of eyewitness accounts handed down over time, many people contend that it is a writing copied by men and as a result, errors must have arisen with each new version.  What they do not understand is the process by which the Bible has been transcribed.

The Bible was originally recorded by the Sopherim (scribes) between the fifth and third centuries B.C.  These scribes were then eclipsed by the Talmudic scribes from A.D. 100-500 who were then followed by the Masoretic scribes (A.D. 500-900).  Their rules of transcription were so rigorous that when a new copy was complete, they would give the reproduction equal authority to that of its parent copy because they were thoroughly convinced that they had an exact duplicate.

As it concerned the Old Testament text, the Masoretic guidelines for copying manuscripts required the following:

•The scroll must be written on the skin of a clean animal.

•Each skin must contain a specified number of columns, equal throughout the entire book.

•The length of each column must extend no less than forty-eight lines or more than sixty lines.

•The column breadth must consist of exactly thirty letters.

•The space of a thread must appear between every consonant.

•The breadth of nine consonants had to be inserted between each section.

•A space of three lines had to appear between each book.

•The fifth book of Moses (Deuteronomy) had to conclude exactly with a full line.

•Nothing, not even the shortest word, could be copied from memory; it had to copied letter by letter.

•The scribe must count the number of times each letter of the alphabet occurred in each book and compare it to the original.

•If a manuscript was found to contain even one mistake, it was discarded.

The accuracy of the Scriptures was recently confirmed by the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls.  Before 1947, the oldest complete Hebrew manuscript dated to A.D. 900, but with the discovery of 223 manuscripts in caves on the west side of the Dead Sea, we now have Old Testament manuscripts that have been dated at around 125 B.C.

Once translated, the scrolls proved to be virtually identical, word for word, in more than 95 percent of the text.  The five percent variation consisted mainly of spelling variations, e.g. of the 166 words in Isaiah 53, only 17 letters were in question.  Of those, 10 letters were a matter of spelling and 4 were stylistic changes; the remaining 3 letters comprised the word “light,” which was added in verse 11.  In other words, the greatest manuscript discovery of all time revealed that a thousand years of copying the Old Testament produced only excruciatingly minor variations, none of which altered the clear meaning of the text or brought the manuscript’s fundamental integrity into question.  Suffice it to say that each letter of each copy was extensively validated so that there was no question that the copy was exactly like the original.  The only possible way to make it more accurate would be to use a photocopy machine.

One solid test that suggests that the Bible is in fact true, is in its ability to accurately and unfailingly foretell things to come. Let me give you a few examples.  First, I’ll list the event, its related Old Testament prophecy, and the New Testament confirmation.

Concerning Jesus Christ: The nature of Jesus’ birth – Isaiah 7:14; Luke 1:30-35.The name of the town in which he was born – Micah 5:2; Luke 2:1-7. His lineage from King David Isaiah 11:1-2, 10; Revelation 22:16. Details of his death – Psalm 22:16-18; John 19:17-24. His resurrection – Psalm 16:10; Matthew 28:1-10.

Concerning Israel: Displaced from its land (something that happened more than once) – 2 Chronicles 7-19-20′; Luke 21:20-24 [Luke’s account most likely described what occurred in 70 A.D. with the destruction of Jerusalem by Titus’ Roman legion. Matthew 24:15-22 and Mark 13: 14-20 include the “abomination of desolation” being set up in the “holy place” – most likely in a rebuilt temple – in their accounts. This did not happen in 70 A.D. but is future even to our time.]

Concerning Israel’s final restoration: Ezekiel 38:8 and Amos 9:11-15 [in May 1948 against all odds, Israel became a nation again in its ancestral lands. The complete fulfillment of this prophecy (Romans 11:25-32 and Hebrews 8:10) is yet to come.]

I think it is safe to say that for this kind of accuracy to be accomplished by “guesswork” simply defies reason. Furthermore, since the Bible is actually composed of many books written over centuries, how can one explain its remarkable consistency if it is only the product of human efforts? I believe with these facts, we can demonstrate to someone who is outright dismissive or just merely unsure about the Bible’s reliability that the evidence far better favors the premise that God, who is beyond human limits of time and space, was directly involved in inspiring the Bible’s contents and bringing it to us accurately across the ages.

What about the Red Sea crossing talked about in the Book of Exodus, chapter 14. Was this story a fable? No, the site of this crossing has been found.

Note! I have no connection with any of the following web-sites.

An international team of scientists and explorers have documented the most exciting archaeological finds in the history of the human race. The ancient “Yam Suph” (modern day “Gulf of Aqaba” aka the “Red Sea”) is where hundreds of Egyptian chariots have been strewn across the sea floor. Robotic submarine cameras have filmed an underwater battlefield where the coral encrusted remains of Pharaoh’s army still litter the ocean floor like an ancient chariot junkyard. Go to: http://creationoutreach.com/id68.html,  for more information on this discovery.

Was the story of Sodom and Gomorrah a fable? No, the place where Sodom and Gomorrah were located, has been found.

“Then the Lord rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah, from the Lord out of the heavens”  Genesis 19:24.  “Turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly”  II Peter 2:6.  (The word for “example” means an exhibit for warning.) Was Noah’s Ark a fable? No, it also has been found.

Noah’s ark is real, the bible is true. Read the true story of finding Noah’s Ark and the artifacts found there. It’s the most exciting discovery adventure EVER and was found in Turkey. The Turkey officials even have a museum commemorating the petrified remains of Noah’s Ark. It was built nearby the ark boat shape in a location near the mountains of Mt. Ararat. Even the anchor stones that helped the safety of the boat are still there. Did lava really preserve this ancient bible artifact? For more information go to: http://www.squidoo.com/noahsarkfound

Was Mt. Sinai a fable? No, it has been found.

Mt. Sinai has to be in Midian: •”Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh and dwelt in the land of Midian; and he sat down by a well”  Ex. 2:15 NKJV.   Maps indicate Midian is east of the Gulf of Aqaba in Northwest Saudi Arabia.

Moses fled to a foreign land, not to the Sinai peninsula: •”And she [Zipporah] bore him a son, and he called his name Gershom; for he said, “I have been a stranger in a foreign land”  Ex. 2:22.  Moses was in a different country, away from any Egyptians in Saudi Arabia.  He could not have been in the Sinai Peninsula, as that area was Egyptian controlled territory, full of Egyptian mines and communication towers.  Moses would have been easily captured in that area. There are literally hundreds of scriptures in the Bible that were written thousands of years ago about things that science has just recently discovered to be completely true and accurate. If the Bible is a book of Fables and Fairy-Tales, how were all these things known about thousands of years ago by man that was supposedly still in the stone age and completely in ignorance of such things? Do you think maybe, just maybe, God had a hand in all of this, and what is written in the Bible really is the Word of God, and maybe every word is fact and not fiction or Fairy-tales?

Science means knowledge, and true science always agrees with the observable evidence. Scientific research continues to unfold the wonders and mysteries of our universe. Interestingly, there is one book that has anticipated many of these scientific facts. That book is the Bible.

There is a booklet out that presents “101 scientific facts & foreknowledge” about the Bible. Many of these facts were penned centuries before they were discovered. Scientific foreknowledge found only in the Bible offers one more piece to the collective proof that the Bible is truly the inspired Word of the Creator. I encourage you to read this booklet on the internet. I am not affiliated with them in anyway, but the booklet is very interesting to read. On the internet type in: “101 scientific facts & foreknowledge” and you can read all 101 facts for free.

I encourage you to read & study the Bible yourself and don’t put any trust in what someone else may tell you about the Bible. You need to read it yourself and find out for yourself what it really say’s. God hold’s each person responsible for their own salvation, so do not depend on someone else to tell you their view of salvation. Find out what God say’s in His Word about it; your eternal life depends upon the truth about salvation straight out of the Bible.

Here are some scriptures straight out of the Bible to think about: Romans 6:23: 23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Ephesians 1:5-7: 5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. 7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.Ephesians 2:7-9: 7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. 8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. Romans 3:20-28:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. 21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;  22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. 27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. 28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. I Corinthians 15:1-4: 1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.

The scriptures I just quoted above are not Fables or Fairy-Tales, they are truth, and they are life eternal. Don’t believe anyone who says otherwise!

Fables and Fairy-Tales can be found at your local library, not in the Bible!

Maranatha, (Lord come)

John
