Answers to Bible Questions

Scriptures are from the KJV of the Bible

(Q)  Is there any absolute proof that God exist?

(A)  Yes, there is absolute proof that God exist! But, if anyone reading this is convinced that there is no God, all the evidence in the world will not change their mind. Some people will look at proof of something, but come back with the comment, don’t confuse me with the facts I’m of the same opinion still. I however am a firm believer and have proven positively that God exist. If you are skeptical about the accuracy of the Bible, an atheist, or agnostic, all I can ask is that you keep an open mind while you read this article. I only want to teach what is true, but you have free will to make your own choice on God’s existence. I only hope this article will help you make the right choice.

I have learned from my own experience that the people I talk to about God’s existence, they almost all tell me if there is a God, why does He allow all the pain and suffering we experience here on this earth? They tell me they hear other people talking about how loving God is. They say if God is so loving, why does He allow all of our wars, crime, sickness, pain, suffering and death that we have? Why does He not put a stop to it all, is He helpless to do so?

The answer to the questions in the above paragraph can be found in the first book of the Bible, the book of Genesis. It’s all about the sin issue. But this article cannot deal with the sin problem right now, but hopefully in the near future I will be able to address that subject.

For now we will deal with our question, “is there any absolute proof that God exist?” I will show you the scientific proof and verses from the Bible that will prove God’s existence to anyone who is searching for truth.

Allow me to introduce you to what is also called, The Word of God. What I will tell you is verifiable and true and you just might be amazed and even a little disconcerted, that what you’ve probably been told about the Bible is, well, hogwash.

What is the Bible all about? It is the comprehensive explanation of God’s cosmic love and plan for humanity. It was written over a period of 1600 years by 40 different authors who lived on 3 different continents using 3 different languages! And the most remarkable thing about it is that the story told is absolutely cohesive and consistent! The themes and historical accounts do not contradict each other. Think about that…

The authors were from different eras, cultures, races and levels of education. There were doctors, tax collectors, sheepherders, farmers, fishermen and even kings. These men lived their lives in Asia, Africa and what is now Europe and they spoke in ancient Hebrew, Aramaic and the common man’s language of the New Testament, Greek.

It includes parables, poetry, and eye witness accounts of events, visions, laws, genealogy, history, and prophecies, some of which are still to be fulfilled. And, again, the overarching theme is completely harmonious! Have you ever heard of such a thing??

But is it accurate? I hear the following statement all the time: “You can’t trust the Bible because it was written by man. And because it’s so old, there is no way it hasn’t been changed and rewritten to say what the church wants it to say.” *sigh*

Of course it was written by man. Who else would have written it? A duck? Does that mean I shouldn’t believe the Pythagorean Theorem because it was written by men? Should we throw away our math books because a man came up with it?! Silly argument, isn’t it?

Yes, men wrote it, but they did so under the inspiration of God’s Holy Spirit, who put into their hearts and minds what to say. They didn’t just sit down and make stuff up, especially since at the time, some of the authors were imprisoned and in chains for what they were writing. Why would they put their lives on the line just to make up some story? And since it was written over such a long period of time, in differing locations, by men of vastly different education and occupations, who had never met each other, how in the heck could they pen something that was in such agreement with what the other writers said, if they were not directed by God? Answer? They couldn’t.

Well, you say, it’s been rewritten and changed hundreds of times since then. OK, let’s look at that. Historians tell us that before the printing press was invented, there were men who were highly educated and well respected, called scribes. The scribes were responsible for copying the original text of writings from parchment word for word. They had to be 100% accurate or they would likely be executed by the kings of the time.

Now dear skeptics, if any written record covering the entirety of world history had a 100% track record of accuracy, what would be your reason to doubt it?  Well, perhaps you don’t realize it, but what is recorded in the Bible has a 100% accuracy rate and ‘nothing’ has ever been proven false about anything written in the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments.  The Bible is how God, our Creator, communicated His message to man, and it has been mankinds very own personal guidebook for successful living in the past, in the present, and for the future.  The sad thing is though neither Nostradamus, nor all the other reputed ‘seers’ throughout the ages can claim 100% accuracy in their visions.  Even well-known radio personality, Rush Limbaugh, ‘boasts’ that he is right 99.7% of the time in his predictions about primarily secular issues.  “Don’t doubt me” he says, but I’m sorry Rush, sorry Nostradamus, sorry all of you other past and present false prophets, self-proclaimed psychics, and other ‘wise in your own eyes’ people…your resume of accuracy would never qualify you as a true prophet of God, because all the truly Godly prophets found exclusively in the Bible have a 100% accuracy record, yes, every one of them.  When God speaks through a prophet the accuracy rate for predictions is always 100%, and in many cases Bible prophecy is laid out with exact details and precise timing.  Whatever has been predicted in the Bible can be relied upon to be true without exception.  There is no such thing as 99.999% accuracy with God!  Our Omniscient Godhead, which includes Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, will always have a 100% accuracy rating.

In contrast, we mere humans have no way of being perfect or understanding everything about this world, nor everything recorded in the Bible, even though Christians have the benefit of the illuminating work of the Holy Spirit in helping them interpret Bible scripture.  However, the unsaved person cannot experience the illuminating ministry of the Spirit since he is blinded to the truth of God 1 Corinthians 2:14 and he considers what he does know of scripture as foolishness.  God clearly states in the book of Isaiah that “My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways…for as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.”  After all, imagine If we mere ‘mortals’ could understand ‘everything’ stated in the Bible, then I would perceive that to be a problem!  I would not want to be able to understand everything about the ‘ways and thoughts’ of our ‘awesome’ God with our tiny little brains, because we just don’t have that kind of brainpower to comprehend everything about the God of all Creation.  God actually wants us to accept many things simply on ‘faith.’  Yes, there are things in the Bible, especially regarding some of the imagery we cannot fully understand, and there are places and things named in the Bible archaeologists have yet to find and confirm, but that by no means takes away from the truth of everything written in the Bible.  Fact is, everything that has been researched, discovered and revealed to us these days regarding things mentioned in the Bible always end up confirming the historical accuracy of recorded events in the Bible and ‘never’ prove Bible facts to be untrue.

Dear Bible skeptics, if the Bible had only a 99.9% accuracy rate, you would then have a case to be skeptical about it, but since Bible accuracy is 100% perfect, your reason to be skeptical is bogus!  You can go ahead and be skeptical about everything else in this world, but ‘not’ what the Bible has to say about anything! And if you remain skeptical about the Bible, it is only because you have not read and studied the books of the Bible in depth.

Archeologists have copies of books and royal decrees, written by scribes, dating all the way back to ancient Egypt and the time of the early Pharaohs, some 3000-4500 + years ago. They have multiple copies of the same manuscript, so they know the writings were consistent.

The Bible was preserved down through the ages in the same way. In the time of Jesus, the Old Testament was present in the Jewish temples for the priests to read to the people. Jesus himself publically read from the scrolls on at least one occasion. The copies of the Old Testament were known to be consistent. No one even questioned it.

The New Testament was preserved like this as well. The original writings of the apostles and the letters of Paul were copied by scribes for the early church so each congregation would have exactly the same texts. In later years, this task was taken over by monks who dedicated their lives to making exact copies, all the way up until the printing press was invented.

We know that the Bible we read today is a faithful translation of the original texts because of the fantastic discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls, in 1947. These parchments, rolled up in clay jars, were found by a group of boys who were exploring some of the many caves in the cliffs overlooking the Dead Sea. At that time, the oldest Hebrew copies of the Old Testament dated from around the 9th and 10th centuries AD.

These scrolls, some of which were in fragments, some intact, were at least 1000 years older and the astounding thing about them were the words of the ancient scrolls were nearly identical to the later copies! We can be confident that what we read in the Bible today has not been rewritten or changed in any appreciable way over the centuries.

Most modern Biblical scholars agree that the most accurate translation of the Bible we have now is the King James Version. Many people complain that it is difficult to understand because we don’t speak Elizabethan English today, but you must be very careful here. Many of the ‘translations’ or paraphrases available do indeed distort and change the original intent of the scriptures. You are safest sticking with the King James. It’s not that difficult to read at all and you quickly get used to the ‘thee’s and ‘thou’s.

There are over 5000 manuscripts of the New Testament which are complete or nearly complete! The earliest copy dates back to approximately 150 AD, which is only 120 years after the crucifixion of Jesus and within 50-60 years of death of the last surviving apostle, John. I challenge you to find a 1st century copy of any other writing that was preserved within this time frame.

You know why so many people have come to the conclusion that the Bible cannot be trusted? It’s because they are content and lazy enough to buy into the lies and distortions they are told, and we all know if a lie is repeated often enough, people will accept it as truth. I mean, hey, if Oprah questions it or my Uncle Bob says it’s a bunch of hooey, why shouldn’t I believe them?

Science means knowledge, and true science always agrees with the observable evidence. Scientific research continues to unfold the wonders and mysteries of our universe. Interestingly, the Bible has anticipated many of these scientific facts.

Many of these facts were penned centuries before they were discovered. Scientific foreknowledge found only in the Bible offers one more piece to the collective proof that the Bible is truly the inspired Word of the Creator.

Let’s read what Romans 1:20 says in the Bible: 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: God says no one has an excuse for not believing that He exist when they see all the wonders of our earth and the vastness and splendor of the universe. Psalm 19:1 says:  1 (To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.) The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. And Jeremiah 10:12: 12 He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion. Isaiah 46:9-10: 9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, 10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

In the last verses above from Isaiah 46:9-10 God say’s He declares the end from the beginning and from ancient times the things that are not yet done. The next (17) facts from the Bible show us some of God’s foreknowledge which God foretold from ancient times thousands of years ago, but have only been discovered by science in the last few hundred years:

 (1)  Oceans contain springs Job 38:16. The ocean is very deep. Almost all the ocean floor is in total darkness and the pressure there is enormous. It would have been impossible for Job to have explored the “springs of the sea.” Until recently, it was thought that oceans were fed only by rivers and rain. Yet in the 1970s, with the help of deep diving research submarines that were constructed to withstand 6,000 pounds-per-square-inch pressure, oceanographers discovered springs on the ocean floors!

(2)  There are mountains on the bottom of the ocean floor Jonah 2:5-6. Only in the last century have we discovered that there are towering mountains and deep trenches in the depths of the sea.

(3)  The Bible states that God created life according to kinds Genesis 1:24. The fact that God distinguishes kinds, agrees with what scientists observe – namely that there are horizontal genetic boundaries beyond which life cannot vary. Life produces after its own kind. Dogs produce dogs, cats produce cats, roses produce roses. Never have we witnessed one kind changing into another kind as evolution supposes. There are truly natural limits to biological change.

(4)  The sun goes in a circuit Psalm 19:6. Some scientists scoffed at this verse thinking that it taught geocentricity – the theory that the sun revolves around the earth. They insisted the sun was stationary. However, we now know that the sun is traveling through space at approximately 600,000 miles per hour. It is literally moving through space in a huge circuit – just as the Bible stated 3,000 years ago!

(5)  The universe is expanding Job 9:8; Isaiah 42:5; Jeremiah 51:15; Zechariah 12:1. Repeatedly God declares that He stretches out the heavens. During the early 20th century, most scientists (including Einstein) believed the universe was static. Others believed it should have collapsed due to gravity. Then in 1929, astronomer Edwin Hubble showed that distant galaxies were receding from the earth, and the further away they were, the faster they were moving. This discovery revolutionized the field of astronomy. Einstein admitted his mistake, and today most astronomers agree with what the Creator told us millennia ago – the universe is expanding!

(6)  Light can be divided Job 38:24. Sir Isaac Newton studied light and discovered that white light is made of seven colors, which can be “parted” and then recombined. Science confirmed this four centuries ago – God declared this four millennia ago!

(7)  Vast fossil deposits anticipated Genesis 7. When plants and animals die they decompose rapidly. Yet billions of life forms around the globe have been preserved as fossils. Geologists now know that fossils only form if there is rapid deposition of life buried away from scavengers and bacteria. This agrees exactly with what the Bible says occurred during the global Flood.    (END OF PART ONE)    PART TWO COMING SOON
