Is there any proof that the Bible is accurate and trust-worthy?
Answers to Bible Questions
Scriptures are from the KJV of the Bible
(Q) Is there any proof that the Bible is accurate and trust-worthy?
(A) Yes, there definitely is proof that the Bible is completely trust-worthy and accurate.
The Bible was written by God the Holy Spirit through 40 different men over a period of about 1600 years dating from 1500 BC to about 100 years after Christ. The Holy Spirit spoke through these men and they wrote down what “He” wants us to know and understand. If the Holy Spirit lied to us just once, or failed to keep His Word just once, then we could not trust Him for anything else that He has to say to us in the scriptures. Our redemption and eternal destiny depends upon the integrity of God’s Word.
One proof of the veracity of the Bible is fulfilled prophecy. There are 737 distinct prophecies in the Scriptures and 594 have been fulfilled to date with 100% accuracy every time. If the prophecies in the Bible fail to happen exactly as God stated, He is not God. But we know that over 300 prophecies concerning Jesus’ First Coming alone happened exactly as God stated. This would be impossible if man wrote these things down without the inspiration of God the Holy Spirit. ALL past prophecies have been fulfilled accurately and to the tee. ALL remaining future prophecies will happen EXACTLY as God states in the Bible.
If Jesus was not born of a virgin, He is not God. If Jesus did not die on the Roman cross, then God lied. If He was not buried and did not rise again on the third day, He is not God, but just a dead corpse.
The Apostle Paul say’s in I Corinthians 15:3-8: 3For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: 6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. 7 After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. 8 And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.
Did you know Jesus literally fulfilled 109 prophecies relating to Himself in His first coming. In the last 24 hours of Jesus’ life, 25 specific prophecies came to pass, all of which were written into the Old Testament between 500 and 1000 years before His birth. Below are just a few of these prophecies from the Old Testament:
- Jesus would be betrayed for 30 pieces of silver (Zechariah 11:12).
2. Jesus would be betrayed by a friend (Psalm 41:9).
3. Jesus would be forsaken by His disciples (Zechariah 13:7).
4. He would be accused by false witnesses (Psalm 35:11).
5. He would be dumb in the presence of His accusers (Isaiah 53:7).
6. Jesus would be scourged (Isaiah 50:6).
7. He would have His garments parted (Psalm 22:18).
8. Jesus would be mocked by His enemies (Psalm 22:7, 8).
9. He would be given gall and vinegar to drink (Psalm 69:21).
10. Not one bone in His body would be broken (Psalm 34:20).
11. He would die in the presence of malefactors and thieves (Isaiah 53:12).
12. The 30 pieces of silver would be used to buy the potter’s field (Zechariah 11:13).
Another prophecy that was fulfilled 67 years ago is that God promised to restore His people Israel to their homeland and this would be a sign to other nations that we are living in the last days:
“And He shall set up an ensign for the nations, and assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the world.” Isaiah 11:11-12.
This Scripture was written over 650 years before Christ and, now over 2,600 years later the Jewish people are returning to their homeland! Now here we are in the 21st century. The Jews have been back in Israel for over 60 years, so this prophecy has come to pass. We are told that in the future this world will be focused on Jerusalem.
“Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem.
And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.
In that day, saith the Lord, I will smite every horse with astonishment, and his rider with madness: and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will smite every horse of the people with blindness.” Zechariah 12:2-4.
Another interesting fact is that all the scriptures that have already been fulfilled, have been literally fulfilled, establishing beyond any intellectual question that the whole Bible was intended to be interpreted literally as well. Unmistakably, the evidence is overwhelming that God means exactly what He says as prophecy after prophecy has already been literally fulfilled.
Also, contrary to expectation, science and particularly the study of archeology, has proven to be the friend of Christianity. Discoveries, such as the “Dead Sea Scrolls”, have proven the accuracy of the Bible and its consistency throughout history. The remains of Sodom and Gomorrah have apparently been located at the southern end of the Dead Sea. There are accounts of the Ark of the Covenant being located under the Temple Mount. The position of Solomon’s Stables has been established. There are extra-Biblical writings ** (LIKETHE WORKS OF FLAVIUS JOSEPHUS), ** which refer to Jesus as a man who was crucified and reported to have been brought back to life. To date, there has been NO archeological discovery that has disputed the Biblical account. **For more information about Flavius Josephus you can visit this web site: http://josephus.org/contAn1.htm
The following are some facts that were penned centuries before they were discovered. Scientific foreknowledge found only in the Bible offers one more piece to the collective proof that the Bible is truly the inspired Word of the Creator:
*Creation is made of particles, indiscernible to our eyes (Hebrews 11:3). Not until the 19th century was it discovered that all visible matter consists of invisible elements.
*Oceans contain springs (Job 38:16). The ocean is very deep. Almost all the ocean floor is in total darkness and the pressure there is enormous. It would have been impossible for Job to have explored the “springs of the sea.” Until recently, it was thought that oceans were fed only by rivers and rain. Yet in the 1970s, with the help of deep diving research submarines that were constructed to withstand 6,000 pounds-per-square-inch pressure, oceanographers discovered springs on the ocean floors!
*There are mountains on the bottom of the ocean floor (Jonah 2:5-6). Only in the last century have we discovered that there are towering mountains and deep trenches in the depths of the sea.
*Blood is the source of life and health (Leviticus 17:11; 14). Up until 120 years ago, sick people were “bled” and many died as a result (e.g. George Washington). Today we know that healthy blood is necessary to bring life-giving nutrients to every cell in the body. God declared that “the life of the flesh is in the blood” long before science understood its function.
*The Bible states that God created life according to kinds (Genesis 1:24). The fact that God distinguishes kinds, agrees with what scientists observe – namely that there are horizontal genetic boundaries beyond which life cannot vary. Life produces after its own kind. Dogs produce dogs, cats produce cats, roses produce roses. Never have we witnessed one kind changing into another kind as evolution supposes. There are truly natural limits to biological change.
*Chicken or egg dilemma solved (Genesis 1:20-22). Which came first, the chicken or the egg? This question has plagued philosophers for centuries. The Bible states that God created birds with the ability to reproduce after their kind. Therefore the chicken was created first with the ability to make eggs! Yet, evolution has no solution for this dilemma.
*Which came first, proteins or DNA (Revelation 4:11)? For evolutionists, the chicken or egg dilemma goes even deeper. Chickens consist of proteins. The code for each protein is contained in the DNA/RNA system. However, proteins are required in order to manufacture DNA. So which came first: proteins or DNA? The ONLY explanation is that they were created together.
*Our bodies are made from the dust of the ground (Genesis 2:7; 3:19). Scientists have discovered that the human body is comprised of some 28 base and trace elements – all of which are found in the earth.
*The universe had a beginning (Genesis 1:1; Hebrews 1:10-12). Starting with the studies of Albert Einstein in the early 1900s and continuing today, science has confirmed the biblical view that the universe had a beginning. When the Bible was written most people believed the universe was eternal. Science has proven them wrong, but the Bible correct.
*The earth is a sphere (Isaiah 40:22). At a time when many thought the earth was flat, the Bible told us that the earth is spherical.
*Origin of the rainbow explained (Genesis 9:13-16). Prior to the Flood there was a different environment on the earth (Genesis 2:5-6). After the Flood, God set His rainbow “in the cloud” as a sign that He would never again judge the earth by water. Meteorologists now understand that a rainbow is formed when the sun shines through water droplets – which act as a prism – separating white light into its color spectrum.
*Light can be divided (Job 38:24). Sir Isaac Newton studied light and discovered that white light is made of seven colors, which can be “parted” and then recombined. Science confirmed this four centuries ago – God declared this four millennia ago!
*Ocean currents anticipated (Psalm 8:8). Three thousand years ago the Bible described the “paths of the seas.” In the 19th century Matthew Maury – the father of oceanography – after reading Psalm 8, researched and discovered ocean currents that follow specific paths through the seas! Utilizing Maury’s data, marine navigators have since reduced by many days the time required to traverse the seas.
*Reproduction explained (Genesis 1:27-28; 2:24; Mark 10:6-8). While evolution has no mechanism to explain how male and female reproductive organs evolved at the same time, the Bible says that from the beginning God made them male and female in order to propagate the human race and animal kinds.
*There are an Incalculable number of stars (Jeremiah 33:22). At a time when less than 5,000 stars were visible to the human eye, God stated that the stars of heaven were innumerable. Not until the 17th century did Galileo glimpse the immensity of our universe with his new telescope. Today, astronomers estimate that there are ten thousand billion trillion stars – that’s a 1 followed by 25 zeros! Yet, as the Bible states, scientists admit this number may be woefully inadequate.
*The number of stars, though vast are finite (Isaiah 40:26). Although man is unable to calculate the exact number of stars, we now know their number is finite. Of course God knew this all along – “He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name” (Psalm 147:4). What an awesome God!
The facts above are just a few of the many things foretold in the Bible long before science discovered these things to be true.
The Bible continues to be attacked today by those who do not believe it is the Holy written Word of God, and is dead-on true from beginning to end. It has been attacked all down through the ages by Satan and his followers, but it is still here and it still brings eternal life to those who believe.
So-called ministers of today are ripping it to shreds, sometimes literally, but it continues to speak the Truth. Some atheists have read it in an attempt to prove that it is fallible, but found a Savior in Jesus while doing so.
Hebrews 4:12-13: 12For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
God’s words in the Bible will stand forever, Isaiah 40:8: The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
There in none like the True God, Isaiah 46:9-11: 9Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, 10Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: 11Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it.
The veracity of Almighty God doesn’t need my defense. It stands on its own. Whether or not you can accept that is your decision. However, whatever you decide will not change the fact that God is absolute Truth. His Word is absolute Truth, and we will all be judged on what HE has to say, not on our opinions. His veracity will not change.
Now that you know the Bible is accurate and trust worthy, you need to consider the following scriptures about salvation. Start by putting your total trust, faith, and belief in Christ Jesus, savior of all mankind.
Acts 4:10-12: 10Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. 11This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. 12Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Ephesians 1:7: In whom we have redemption through His blood, (Talking about Jesus Christ) the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.
Ephesians 2:7-8: 7That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. 8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast.
I Corinthians 1-4: 1Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.
Romans 3:23-28: 23For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. 28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
Take God’s Word seriously!! Believe what Christ Jesus accomplished for you at Calvary, and you will be with Him for all eternity.
God’s Word is always accurate and trust worthy, just believe, believe, believe!!
