(Q)  Of all the churches today; which one is the One “True” Church?

(A)  In the Bible we read about Christians and Churches, but we do not find one word about Catholics, Protestants, Methodists, Baptists, Presbyterians or Lutherans. In the Bible we read about heaven and learn how to get there. The only genuine Christian is the “Bible” Christian. The only genuine heaven is the “Bible” heaven. The only sure way to become a Christian and to get to heaven is the “Bible” way. The Bible declares in Proverbs 14:12, “There is a way that seemeth right unto a man but the end thereof are the ways of death.” What a delusion! What a disaster! What a serious mistake! Just think of it! A man thinks he is saved and on the way to eternal glory when he is really lost and on the way to eternal damnation. A person cannot afford to make such a blunder and most assuredly he cannot correct his mistakeafter he has reached his eternal destiny. We can afford to make other mistakes, but not this one.

The “True” Bible Church is not an organization, much less a political state. It is a living organism, a spiritual body, with a living Head and living members. Again and again St. Paul, by divine inspiration, calls the Church, The Body of Christ. See Romans 12:5; I Corinthians 12:27; and Ephesians 5:30.

It should be observed too, that the True Bible Church has one Head — not a man on earth, but the glorified Christ in heaven. Ephesians 1:22-23: 22And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him (Christ), to be the head over all things to the church, 23Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. Colossians 1:18,24: 18And he (Christ)is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. 24Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, WHICH IS THE CHURCH.

Nowhere in Scripture do we read that any man is to act as His earthly representative as Head of the Body.

Very frequently we hear the following remarks: “It does not make any difference whether we are Catholics or Protestants, whether we are Methodists, Baptists, Presbyterians, Episcopalians, or Lutherans, if we try to do right, we are all going to the same heaven.”  BIG MISTAKE!! Frequently the question is asked, “to what church do you belong?” Or, “wouldn’t you like to join our church?” There are many people who think they are Christians because they have joined some local church denomination which is an earthly organization; but it is not the living organism, The Body of Christ, a spiritual body, with a living Head and living members.

A lot of people, though faithful supporters of some earthly church organization, have never experienced the truth of II Corinthians 5:17: “If any man [be] in Christ there is a new creation.” It is possible to be a member in good standing of an earthly church organization, yet be outside the One True Church of which the Bible speaks.

How, then, do we become members of this “One True Bible Church,” the Body of Christ? First, we must acknowledge ourselves to be sinners in God’s sight, for Ephesians 2:16 relates how Christ died for sinful men “that He might RECONCILE both [Jew and Gentile] to God in one Body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby.” Thus, when believing sinners are RECONCILED to God by faith in Christ alone without any works, they are REGENERATED, given a new life, by the Spirit, and by the Spirit are BAPTIZED into the Church, The Body of Christ, the living organism in heaven.

Titus 3:5: “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of REGENERATION, and renewing of the Holy Spirit.”

I Corinthians 12:13: “For BY ONE SPIRIT ARE WE ALL BAPTIZED INTO ONE BODY”.

Every one of us should ask himself: “Have I been baptized by the Spirit into the Body of Christ?” Those who have not, do not belong to the One True Church which God recognizes. But membership in the true Church is still open. Simply, but sincerely, trust Christ as your Savior. He is the Head of the Church. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved” (Acts 16:31). Then associate yourself with some local assembly where Christ is honored and the Bible taught, rightly divided.

Did you ever read these words in the Bible, “Yea, let God be true, though every man a liar”? God is infallible. Man is fallible. God has provided man with an infallible Guide, His infallible Word; the Bible. Only in the Bible can we learn the truth of how men became sinners and how they can become righteous in the sight of God.

The Bible records the story of death by Adam, and life by Christ.

Before we close, please read the following scriptures and believe: Romans 3:19-28:  19Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. 20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. 21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. 27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

Don’t be fooled into thinking you are saved because you belong to a certain denomination. Belonging to any earthly church will not save you. Only by becoming a member of God’s One True Church, the heavenly church, the “Body of Christ” can you be saved.

May you have a blessed and joyful day.

Maranatha (Lord Come)

John
