Rightly dividing the Word of truth.

This is part 39 in a series of 53 articles about RIGHTLY DIVIDING GOD’S WORD OF TRUTH. All scripture quoted will be from the King James Bible.

Part 39 continues discussing the true church, where is it, what is it?

The church is a spiritual body and not a physical place. A person is made the church by trusting the gospel of Jesus Christ that he died for your sins, and was raised from the dead to provide salvation from both sin and death.

I Corinthians 3:16 makes the pointthat the people are the church, and it is not a physical building:16Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?  Also, II Corinthians 6:16: confirms the people are the church: 16And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

The error of thinking the church is a building is so deeply settled in our culture and language that it is hard to stop saying wrong things such as “where do you go to church”, “that’s a nice church”, and what time is church, how long does it last?

We must stop perpetuating the error if we will ever eliminate the confusion between the faith of Bible Christianity and a religious system that has holy places where people go to receive a blessing.

Colossians 2:8:  8Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

I hope I am giving you some insight into why we have so much confusion between religious people, and Christianity today, they are not the same in God’s eye’s. A lot of people have been deceived into thinking a physical building or some denomination, or some physical organization is the true church today. The Bible says that only Christ is the one true church. Christ dwells in heaven, He is the church, He is the head of the church, He calls His church the Body of Christ, and only true Christian believers have been accepted, and make up this church.

You cannot accept Christ as your Lord and Savior; Christ accepts you when you put your faith, trust, and belief in Him, and Him alone with no works, believing in His shed blood for the forgiveness of your sins, and His death, burial, and resurrection, and ascension back to glory in heaven.

Remember, we are under God’s new heavenly program, the gospel of the grace of God, and we are saved by grace alone, Ephesians 2:8-9: 8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.  Some people think their good works will help them get to heaven; thing again. God does not accept good works for salvation, but only what Christ did at Calvary for you, will get you into heaven. However, your good works will get you blessing from God, after you become a true believer. — To be continued
