(Q)  What does God say about homosexuality in the Bible?

(A)  I realize this article about homosexuality is a very sensitive issue. Anyone reading this article, and whatever you believe about this subject, I am not judging you, that is God’s job, but I am presenting this article to show you what God says about this issue from His Word, the Holy Bible. My hope is that I might help some come to the knowledge of the truth about homosexuality from God’s point of view.

The King James bible which I will be using is God’s perfectly preserved Word for all English speaking people. It is accurate without any contradictions when you know how to “Rightly divide” the scriptures as it says in II Timothy2:15: Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.God also says in II Timothy 3:16: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:  However, I do use a few verses from the NASB version of the Bible to emphasize a point in I Timothy 1:8-11 and Jude 1:6-8.

God says the scriptures are given for reproof, for correction, for instructions in righteousness. Do you believe that statement? Let’s find out as we start our study in the book of Romans and Leviticus.

Romans 1:24-32:  ²⁴Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:²⁵Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.²⁶For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:²⁷And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.²⁸And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;²⁹Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,³⁰Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,³¹Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:³²Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Leviticus 18:22-30: ²²Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is an  abomination.²³Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: itis confusion.²⁴Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you:²⁵And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.²⁶Ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations; neither any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourneth among you:²⁷(For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled;)²⁸That the land spue not you out also, when ye defile it, as it spued out the nations that were before you.²⁹For whosoever shall commit any of these abominations, even the souls that commit them shall be cut off from among their people.³⁰Therefore shall ye keep mine ordinance, that ye commit not any one of these abominable customs, which were committed before you, and that ye defile not yourselves therein: I am the LORD your God.

What did GOD just tell us in the above scriptures? God plainly says that homosexuality is wrong, and He is not pleased by any of these abominable acts of homosexuality. God’s say’s these acts are sin and are condemned by Him. Note what Leviticus 20:10-19 say:

Leviticus 20:10-19:  ¹⁰ And the man that committeth adultery with another man’s wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour’s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death. ¹¹ And the man that lieth with his father’s wife hath uncovered his father’s nakedness: both of them shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. ¹² And if a man lie with his daughter in law, both of them shall surely be put to death: they have wrought confusion; their blood shall be upon them. 13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. ¹⁴ And if a man take a wife and her mother, it is wickedness: they shall be burnt with fire, both he and they; that there be no wickedness among you. ¹⁵ And if a man lie with a beast, he shall surely be put to death: and ye shall slay the beast. ¹⁶ And if a woman approach unto any beast, and lie down thereto, thou shalt kill the woman, and the beast: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. ¹⁷ And if a man shall take his sister, his father’s daughter, or his mother’s daughter, and see her nakedness, and she see his nakedness; it is a wicked thing; and they shall be cut off in the sight of their people: he hath uncovered his sister’s nakedness; he shall bear his iniquity. ¹⁸ And if a man shall lie with a woman having her sickness and shall uncover her nakedness; he hath discovered her fountain, and she hath uncovered the fountain of her blood: and both of them shall be cut off from among their people. ¹⁹ And thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy mother’s sister, nor of thy father’s sister: for he uncovereth his near kin: they shall bear their iniquity.

Again, God calls these acts an abomination.

I Corinthians 6:9:  Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, * nor effeminate,* nor abusers of themselves with mankind.

*Meaning of Effeminate from the Merriam-Webster Dictionary: Having feminine qualities untypical of a man, not manly in appearance or manner. Gay men, historically, have been made fun of and ridiculed for effeminate behavior or affect.

I Timothy 1:8-11: (NASB Version) ⁸ But we know that the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully, ⁹ realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill * their fathers or mothers, for murderers ¹⁰ and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever * else is contrary to sound teaching, ¹¹ according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, with which I have been entrusted.

Jude 1:6-8: 6:   (NABS Version) ⁶And angels who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode, He has kept in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day, ⁷ just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, since they in the same way as these indulged in gross immorality and went after strange flesh, are exhibited as an example in undergoing the punishment of eternal fire. ⁸ Yet in the same way these men, also by dreaming, defile the flesh, and reject authority, and revile angelic majesties.

Homosexuality is a condemned SIN, along with murder. adultery, stealing, telling lies, worshiping
false gods, and many other sins, but God always emphasizes the sin of homosexuality.

The Bible tells us of the wickedness of Sodom and Gomorrah. Though homosexuality was not the only vice of these cities, the Bible makes it clear that this sin was one of the main reasons why God judged them. Genesis 19:1-11 speaks of the men of Sodom gathering at Lot’s house and calling out to Lot, saying, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may have relations with them” Genesis 19:5. lot’s two visitors were actually angels who manifested themselves as men. Lot’s carnal attempt to rescue his visitors was his offer to provide the men of Sodom with his two virgin daughters Genesis 19:8. But, the men of Sodom rejected Lot’s offer.
Finally, the angels miraculously struck the immoral men with blindness Genesis 19:11. Jude, commenting on the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, wrote, Just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, since they in the same way as these indulged in gross immorality and went after strange flesh, are exhibited as an example in undergoing the punishment of eternal fire, Jude 7.

In Leviticus 18:22, 26, 27, 29, 30, and Leviticus 20:13 God calls homosexuality an “Abomination.” “Abomination” is one of the strongest words used in the Bible against something evil. In the Hebrew, “Abomination” can mean any of the following: to be a moral stench, unclean, disgusting idol, to loathe or pollute, filthy idolatrous object, something disgusting, detestable or abominable. God calls homosexual!!y’ what it is in His sight, disgusting, detestable, an “Abomination.

Can anyone reading this article show me a scripture where God has changed His mind about the SIN of homosexuality, and now calls it right and good? We are living under grace today, but that does not mean that homosexuality is not a sin, God still hates it!

From the beginning, what was God’s purpose in creating the man and the woman? Genesis 1:28: ²⁸ And God blessed them, and God said unto them, be fruitful, multiply and replenish the earth. and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air; and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. God told Adam and Eve to fill the earth with children.

Leviticus 26:9:  For I will have respect unto you and make you fruitful and multiply you and establish my covenant with you. Again. God was going to fill the earth with children.

Mark 10:6-8: ⁶ But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.⁷ For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife, ⁸ And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.

Has God ever changed His mind about the relationships between men and women in the scriptures~ or about the function or role of men and women?

 is there any scripture in the Bible where God says it’s now ok for two men, or two women to marry, or have homosexual relationships?

I Corinthians 7:2-13: ² Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. ³ Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise, also the wife unto the husband.⁴ The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise, also the husband hath not power of his own body. but the wife. ⁵Defraud ye not one the other; except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency. ⁶ But I speak this by permission. and not of commandment. ⁷ For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that. ⁸ I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. ⁹ But if they cannot contain, Jet them marry: for it is better to marry than to bum. ¹⁰ And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, let not the wife depart from her husband: ¹¹ But if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband and let not the husband put away- his wife.^.12 But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away. ¹³ And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.

I see nothing about God ever changing His mind about the relationships between a man, and a woman in the above scriptures. But from the beginning of the creation God made them mate and female for the purpose of reproduction, and to love each other in a 100% heterosexual marriage.

Can a homosexual be a true Christian believer?

 According to God Word a homosexual could be a true believer, if they admit to God that homosexuality is a sin, along with all other sins in their life. and want to change their lifestyle to living a Christian life with the help of Christ Jesus, their Lord and Savior. They must have a true desire to put homosexuality out of their life along with their other sins, and want to do what is right good, and pleasing to God. True Christian believers still sin in the flesh from time to time, but they do not purposely want to sin, and they are trying to put all sin out of their life the best they can. God knows true Christians will still sin in the flesh, but those sins are paid for by the shed blood of Christ at Calvary, if you are really a true Christian Believer. A True Christian Believer knows they do not have a license to sin, but liberty to serve.

In 1 Corinthians 6:12-20 , Paul is talking to true Christian believers, and his main topic was sexual immorality. ln verses 18-20 he summarized his thoughts this way: “Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.  Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.

The Bible considers all forms of sexual activity that are performed outside of a heterosexual marriage to be immoral and therefore sin. Sexual sins are sins against our own body and Paul reminded us that our bodies are not our own to do with as we please. We have been bought at a price by the precious blood of Jesus 1 Peter 1:18-19. God has put His own seal of ownership on us and made us collectively into His temple for this age. His Spirit dwells within us, 2 Cor. 1 :21·22.

True Christian believers know that God will not revoke their salvation fur any sin. But Paul has reminded us that since our bodies belong to Him, we should strive to do only: those things that please Him out of gratitude for what He’s done for us. Sexual immorality is not pleasing to God and grieves the Holy Spirit, who being sealed within us, is forced to participate. Seriously, think about this! Living the lifestyle of homosexuality is not pleasing to God; it is sin, and if you don’t think it is sin, then you are being deceived. Are you a true Christian believer, or just a professing Christian?

If this article is offensive to anyone reading it, maybe it’s because your relationship is not right with God, and you refuse to admit that what you are doing is sin. True Christians admit their sins and are trying their best to put it out of their lives.

JUDGMENT IS COMING ON ALL PEOPLE.

2 Corinthians 5:10: For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that everyone may receive the things done in his body. according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. We all shall be judged by Christ, make no mistake about that!

 Romans 14:10-12 ¹⁰ But why dost thou judge thy brother or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? For we shall all stand before the Judgment seat of Christ. ¹¹ For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me.  and every tongue shall confess to God. ¹² So then everyone of us shall give account of himself to God. Judgment will come, believe it or not! Someday every knee shall bow to Christ Jesus and give an account of himself to God.

Romans 3:10-20:¹⁰ As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one. ¹¹ There is none that under standeth, there is none that seeketh after God. ¹² They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. ¹³ Their throat is an open sepulcher, with their tongues they have used deceit, the poison of asps is under their lips.¹⁴ Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.¹⁵ Their feet are swift to shed blood. ¹⁶ Destruction and misery are in their ways.¹⁷ And the way of peace have they not known. ¹⁸ There is no fear of God before their eyes. ¹⁹ Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. ²⁰ Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

God say’s that everyone has sinned, no exceptions.

SATAN IS THE REAL INSTIGATER

Satan is the one who is instigating all the sexual immorality in the world, but we have free will, and God is going to hold each person responsible for their own actions. Satan cannot force anyone to sin, you have the free will to say no to sin. Satan hates God, and he is trying to destroy the human race by using the deception that homosexuality is ok, because that means there will be fewer people seeking God, and His forgiveness through the sacrifice of Christ at Calvary two thousand years ago. Satan wants to take as many as he can to the fake of fire with him when God will cast him and all unbelievers in there with him for all eternity. Don’t let Satan deceive you, he is a very powerful being, but next to God he is as nothing. Again, God gives us free will to choose good or evil. We all need to choose wisely.

Note this, no person is born a homosexual! If that were true, God could not condemn them, because they were born that way. God gives life to all human beings, but He does not form a homosexual baby in the womb of the mother. That would be against His Holy and Righteous nature as the all perfect God. The real reason some believe they were born that way is because SATAN hates God and is deceiving our young people into thinking evil and wrong thoughts. Satan has people believing men can have sex with another man and it’s ok. Same way with women; women with women. God is not the author of all this evil, but Satan is and doing a good job of deceiving people. I have showed you in this article that God hates the sin of homosexuality. If God caused a person to be born that way, then He would be guilty of sin Himself. God never sins and never make a mistake in anything He does. SATAN IS THE CULPRIT!! Put your faith and trust in Christ and He will help you overcome these evil ways, but you need to have a true sincere desire to do what is right and good in God’s site.

Romans 6:14-16:  ¹⁴For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. ¹⁵ What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. ¹⁶ Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

God is a God of love, He loves the sinner, but He hates sin. God’s love does not overlook the sin. This is the dilemma; it’s like your life is on a scale. On one side is your sin, and on the other is the consequence of sin, and that is the way the scale is tipping for most people. God loves us, and He doesn’t enjoy punishing us. Nonetheless, He is also just, and that means He must punish sinners.

Homosexuality must be dealt with in order to be right with God. Let Him help you! He is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance, or change their mind about this sin or any other sin.

Remember, eternity is forever! God must punish sin if it is not paid for by His son, Christ Jesus. Living the life style of homosexuality, with no intentions of changing, will bring an eternity of regret, because you will have to pay for those sins yourself, in what God calls the lake of fire. Homosexuality, and all sins must be paid for now, before you die. You need to put your total 100% faith in what Christ accomplished for you at Calvary two thousand years ago. Go to Christ in prayer and admit you are a sinner, and ask Him to forgive all of your sins, because you realize He paid the penalty for all sin at Calvary through the shedding of His precious Holy Blood, for you, and all who believe. Do it now, before ifs too late!
