(Q) What is God’s assurance of salvation?
(A) Our instructions for salvation come from God, which He gave to Paul, and thru Paul’s preaching the gospel of our salvation, we also will have the assurance of our salvation, if we believe the gospel that Paul taught; Titus 1:1-3: 1Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;2In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began, 3But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour.i
Ephesians gives us more of the authority given to him by God: Ephesians 3: 1-9: 1 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles 2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: 3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, 4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) 5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; 6 That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel: 7 Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power. 8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; 9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:
Now, we shall look at some scriptures about the assurance of salvation.
Ephesians 1:11-14: 11In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: 12That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 13In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14Which is the earnest (GUARANTEE) of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. These verses tell us the Holy Spirit is the one who guarantees your salvation until you die, or the Rapture takes place. Remember what God said in the first paragraph of this article, “God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began”.
Ephesians 2:5-8: 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened (made alive) us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6 And hath raised us up together and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: 7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. The gift of God is salvation, Romans 6:23: For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
The gospel of salvation for all who have lived for the last two thousand years is given below in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
1 Corinthians 15:1-4: 1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.
The key to assurance of salvation is BELIEVING!!
1 Timothy 1:16 Howbeit for this cause I (Paul) obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter (believe) on him to life everlasting.
Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have (believed) in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Romans 3:22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that (believe): for there is no difference.
When you first believe the gospel of grace, you have the ASSURANCE OF SALVATION. This is a promise by God to all believers. God does not and cannot lie!!!
Note: ‘Him that (believeth) shall be saved’ has 16,144 matches in the King James Bible, which is too many to list.
I hope this article has given you the ASSURANCE of salvation. Trust God’s Word by faith! I do!
