(Q)  What is the truth about Jesus Christ and the Christian Bible?

(A)  The Roman Governor Pontius Pilate was a key figure in the trial of Jesus Christ, ordering Roman troops to carry out Jesus’ death sentence by crucifixion. As Roman governor and supreme judge in the province from 26-37 A.D., Pilate had the sole authority to execute a criminal. This soldier and politician found himself caught between the unforgiving empire of Rome and the religious scheming of the Jewish council, the Sanhedrin.

During Jesus trial Pilate asked Him this question; Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice. Pilate saith unto him; What is truth(John 18:37 and first part of 38)

Pilate asked Jesus; What is truth? What about you, do you want to know “What is truth?”

In the Christian Bible, God has something very important to say about “Love of the truth.”

In II Thessalonians 2:10-12: 10 God says: And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause, God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 13 But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth.

According to II Thessalonians 2:10-12 quoted above, God says anyone who does not have the love of the truth in them will be damned because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. Where then will we find this truth? In John 14:6 Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

So, should we believe only the Christian Bible when it comes to the truth? Does the Christian Bible have any true credibility that the holy books of other religions do not have?

Despite what atheists or unbelievers say about the Christian Bible, the facts are clear. Unique among all books ever written, the Christian Bible accurately foretells specific events-in detail-many years, sometimes centuries, before they occur. Approximately 2500 prophecies appear in the pages of the Bible, about 2000 of which already have been fulfilled to the letter—no errors. (The remaining 500 or so reach into the future and may be seen unfolding as days go by.) Since the probability for any one of these prophecies having been fulfilled by chance averages less than one in ten (figured very conservatively) and since the prophecies are for the most part independent of one another, the odds for all these prophecies having been fulfilled by chance without error is less than one in 10 to the 2000th power (that is 1 with 2000 zeros written after it)!

The Christian Bible is like no other book in the world. It is filled with internal evidence that it is the Word of God. No other religion has a book filled with prophecies fulfilled one right after the other. The few books that have even attempted this have been proven to be written by false prophets who cannot foretell the future. But you can trust in the Christian Bible, which is the true Word of God, who proves that He is the Author of it by fulfilled prophecies, as He said more than 2700 years ago.

Our God has foretold the future in His Bible and fulfills His prophecies in it. That sets the Bible apart from all the books of false religions. God had this to say about false prophets and false gods: “Let them bring them forth, and shew us what will happen: let them shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come. Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods …” (Isaiah 41:22-23). Contrast that with what God says about himself: “Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure …” (Isaiah 46:9-10).

The most compelling evidence demonstrating that the Bible is the word of God is its unswerving ability to accurately predict future events, often in minute details. Specific prophesies are conspicuously absent from the 26 other religious books that claim to be scripture, including the Muslim’s Koran, the Book of Mormon, the Hindu Vedas, and Buddhist writings. This in itself should be a major eye-opener to the honest skeptic. Fulfilled prophecy is strong evidence that God is the author of the Christian Bible because when you look at the mathematical odds of prophecy being fulfilled, you quickly see a design, a purpose and a guiding hand behind the Christian Bible. If just one prophecy failed, then we would know that God is not the true God because the creator of all things, which includes time, would not be wrong about predicting the future. Deuteronomy 18:22 says, “If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously.

Turn to Psalm 22 and read verses 12-18. This is a detailed description of the crucifixion–1000 years before Jesus was born.  And on top of that, crucifixion hadn’t even been invented yet. Do you think something like this could happen by chance?? No way!!

Christ Is the truth, and the Christian Bible is the Word of the true living God: John 17:17 says: Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. Ephesians 4:21: If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: I Timothy 3:15: But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. I Thessalonians 2:13:For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe. ITimothy 2:4: Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

I John 5:6-8,20 says: This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.  20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. Ephesians 4:21: If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:

Now, if the Christian Bible is the true Word of God (AND IT IS!!), lets read what Jesus Christ said in Matthew 7:13-14: 13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and MANY there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and FEW there be that find it.

These verses in Matthew quoted above brought great sadness to my heart. Christ spoke these words while He was here on earth, and before His crucifixion. To put it another way, Christ who was God in the flesh at this time in history, was telling us that the vast majority of people who have lived on the earth from the time of Adam and Eve, are going to end up in hell. Why, because they did not have a love for the truth.

Remember, Christ Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life, and His Word, (THE CHRISTIAN BIBLE)is the true Word of God. There is no other way to receive eternal life but through Him, Acts 4:10-12: Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Romans 3:20-26: Therefore, by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood, to declare His righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time His righteousness: that He might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

Conclusion: If you want to be one of the FEW who finds the strait gate, and narrow way, which leadeth unto eternal life, then follow these simple, but life-giving instructions:

You must have a love for God’s truth, (Jesus Christ and His Words in the Christian Bible) and you must believe that Christ shed His blood for remission of you sins, believing in His death, burial and resurrection, I Corinthians 15:1-4:  Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day.

Today, it’s all by God’s grace through faith with no works, Ephesians 2:8-9: For by grace are ye saved                                                                                              through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Christ is the way, the truth, and the life! Without Faith (or belief), it is impossible to please Him, for he that comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him, (Hebrews 11:6).

I hope all who read this article will have a love for God’s truth.

May you have a wonderful day.

John
